Montreal, Quebec, January 13, 2025 – Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) leadership candidate Pablo Rodriguez, accompanied by his campaign co-chairs, Philippe Couillard government minister Luc Fortin and Michelle Setlakwe, MNA for Mont-Royal-Outremont, announce major new endorsements for his candidacy as QLP leader.
Party leadership candidate and Marguerite-Bourgeoys MNA Frédéric Beauchemin, who is also the Official Opposition’s spokesperson on economy and innovation, and finance, rallies behind Pablo Rodriguez’s candidacy as the next leader of the Quebec Liberal Party.
“We need a strong, united Liberal Party, and I’m convinced that Pablo Rodriguez is the only candidate capable of bringing Liberals back into the fold and uniting the forces needed to build a better Quebec. So I’m supporting Pablo, not only because I like his positive campaign and his great ability to bring people together, but also because our conversations have convinced me that he has a real concern for the state of public finances and Quebec’s economic development,” he explains.
In fact, Frédéric Beauchemin will be joining the economic advisory committee headed by Martin Coiteux.
“Fred is an exceptional asset to our team. His knowledge of economics will help advance our thinking on Quebec’s future. I’m privileged to be able to count on quality people of Fred’s calibre,” says Pablo Rodriguez.
Sona Lakhoyan Olivier, MNA for Chomedey and Official Opposition Tourism Critic, also endorses Pablo Rodriguez’s candidacy.
“Since he announced his candidacy, I’ve gotten to know Pablo Rodriguez. I like the way he expresses positive, unifying leadership. I also like his dynamism, and I’m convinced that he has what it takes to lead us to electoral victory in 2026,” she says.
“Sona is known for her deep commitment to her community and for her tireless hard work. I am truly proud to be able to count on her support,” adds Pablo Rodriguez.
Following in the footsteps of Désirée McGraw, Linda Caron and Michelle Setlakwe, Frédéric Beauchemin and Sona Lakhoyan Olivier bring to five the number of Liberal caucus members who have publicly endorsed Pablo Rodriguez.
“I am very excited to hear that my colleagues Sona and Frédéric are joining the Pablo Rodriguez team. Sona has a great talent for mobilizing people and is always ready to listen to the concrete concerns of her fellow citizens. As for Frédéric, his expertise in public finance and his concern for intergenerational equity will be invaluable assets for the campaign. These rallies perfectly illustrate Pablo’s rallying effect, an essential quality for rebuilding the Quebec Liberal Party. Gathering, adding, and creating a strong and diversified team based on our common values: that’s what we need,” emphasizes Michelle Setlakwe.
Former minister and campaign co-chair Luc Fortin welcomes the addition of two new MPs to the team.
“Fred and Sona are really important additions to our campaign. We’re building a whole team to support Pablo! It’s growing by leaps and bounds, and we can feel that something important is happening around Pablo’s candidacy. The wind is really in our sails, and I’m convinced that it’s going to stay that way,” he enthuses.
