Pablo Rodriguez announces new endorsements

8 December 2024

Montreal, Quebec, December 8, 2024 – Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) leadership candidate Pablo Rodriguez, accompanied by Luc Fortin, campaign co-chair and minister in Philippe Couillard’s government, and Désirée McGraw, MNA for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, has announced two major new endorsements for his candidacy as QLP leader.

Michelle Setlakwe, MNA for Mont-Royal-Outremont, who is also Deputy Leader of the Official Opposition, Official Opposition Spokesperson for Higher Education, Municipal Affairs, Access to Information and Privacy, and Cybersecurity and Digital, has officially declared her support for Pablo Rodriguez as the next leader of the PLQ.

“I think that Pablo, with his charisma, his leadership, his sincere interest in others – and above all, his love of Quebec – has everything it takes to gather a strong team around him, to put the party and Quebec back on the right track,” she explained.

Linda Caron, MNA for La Pinière and Official Opposition spokesperson for seniors and caregivers, and homecare, who served as President of the PLQ from 2019 to 2022, also endorses Pablo Rodriguez.

“The trademark of the Quebec Liberal Party is the economy. But our value of social justice must always be there, especially in the current context where so many people are struggling. My deep conviction is that Pablo is the candidate who best embodies this balance,” she asserted.

Michelle Setlakwe has agreed to become co-chair of Pablo Rodriguez’s leadership campaign, while Linda Caron will be Senior Advisor and Content Manager – Seniors and Social Services.

Désirée McGraw, MNA for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, was delighted with these additions to the Pablo team.

“I was the first person to publicly support Pablo, and I’m sure there will be many more to come. Linda and Michelle are two colleagues whom I greatly appreciate for their integrity, team spirit and courage. There’s no decision more important than who will lead our party in the next election, and we all agree that we need Pablo,” she added.

Désirée McGraw will put her knowledge to good use as Senior Advisor and Content Manager – Environment, Energy and Climate Change.

For his part, former minister and campaign co-chair Luc Fortin is happy to see new reinforcements joining the team.

“A big part of being co-chair is opening doors and getting Pablo in front of as many people as possible. While ‘selling’ Pablo isn’t very difficult, Michelle and Linda’s extraordinary networks of contacts will benefit our campaign enormously,” he says.

Pablo Rodriguez says he’s honored by the support he’s received and feels very grateful.

“I’m really lucky to be able to count on so many quality people. I’m privileged to have Michelle and Luc as co-presidents, who are highly respected by the militant base, and I’ll be able to benefit from their invaluable strategic advice, as well as that of Linda and Désirée. Together, we’ll be working hard to win the party leadership and then the next election.”
