Montreal, Quebec, February 9, 2025 – Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) leadership candidate Pablo Rodriguez, accompanied by Michelle Setlakwe, campaign co-chair and MNA for Mont-Royal-Outremont, announces two major new endorsements for his candidacy as QLP leader.
Elisabeth Prass, MNA for D’Arcy-McGee, who is also the Official Opposition’s spokesperson on homelessness, mental health, social services, and people living with a disability or on the autism spectrum, officially endorses Pablo Rodriguez as the next leader of the QLP.
“I support Pablo for several reasons. He embodies the values of the QLP and I firmly believe he has the ability to bring former members back to the party. He brings the experience needed to not only become the next leader of the QLP, but also the next Premier of Quebec. What’s more, as the MNA for D’Arcy-McGee, I made this decision by listening to my fellow citizens, who recognize his contribution not only to the QLP but also to the many communities represented in my riding,” she explains.
Brigitte Garceau, MNA for Robert-Baldwin, who is also Official Opposition critic for culture and communications, the status of women, youth protection, and follow-up to the Rebuilding Trust report, also endorses Pablo Rodriguez’s candidacy.
“Pablo has shown us over the years that he is an authentic leader, a grassroots activist, an unparalleled unifier and an ardent defender of individual rights and freedoms. He will always speak out against divisive policies and the dangers of Quebec sovereignty. In the same breath, he will continue to promote and defend the French language, our culture and heritage, never at the expense of the fundamental rights of minorities,” she points out.
Elisabeth Prass will advise Pablo Rodriguez on mental health, homelessness and social services, specifically for people living with a disability or on the autism spectrum, in collaboration with Linda Caron, who advises him on seniors and social services. For her part, Brigitte Garceau will advise him on youth protection and issues relating to women in situations of domestic violence.
After Désirée McGraw, Linda Caron, Michelle Setlakwe, Frédéric Beauchemin and Sona Lakhoyan Olivier, these two new endorsements bring to seven the number of Liberal caucus members publicly supporting Pablo Rodriguez.
“I know I’m repeating myself, but I’m really privileged to have so many quality people supporting my candidacy! Not only am I adding two really competent people to our team, but these are MNAs who work tirelessly on their files. We’re going to work hard to win the leadership and the next election, but what’s more, it’s going to be a lot of fun because we’ve all become friends,” enthuses Pablo Rodriguez.
For her part, Michelle Setlakwe is genuinely excited by the addition of her two Liberal caucus colleagues to the team.
“In our day-to-day work at the National Assembly, we already have a very effective working relationship. Elisabeth and Brigitte will be a wonderful addition to the group around Pablo as we march towards victory as leader and in the next election. Their addition is further proof of Pablo Rodriguez’s unifying leadership,” emphasizes Michelle Setlakwe.
